Globetrotters

We have had lots of fun learning through this topic as we developed our understanding of the world and other planets in our solar system. This involved researching the planets, looking at the differences between them, learning about how night and day happens and why we have time zones and also the phases of the moon.

We were very fortunate to be able to visit the Space Centre in Leicester and here we enjoyed learning more about our solar system through a greater interactive experience. During our English lessons, we wrote a recount of our visit to the Space Centre, which was a good way of remembering the fun we had there.

During our DT lessons we were lucky enough to make two creations. The first was a papier mache hot air balloon that we made during our immersion day as a mode of transport for ‘Globetrotting’. The second item involved us making travel bags through sewing. We spent time researching and understanding what was important when thinking about a travel bag. We looked at designs and then used this knowledge to plan our own bags. These lessons were very enjoyable, and we had lots of fun showing off our designs.
