Woodwind festival 5th March 2025

On Wednesday 5th March, four flautists from Years 5 and 6 represented Summerfield at the Woodwind festival in Milton Keynes. The ensemble performed the piece "Pure Imagination" live before adults and schools from all over the City. The Adjudicator for the competition said "Nicely played together. Nice job bringing off the pause part, very thorough!"

We are very proud of their style and not surprised that they received a Merit award. Many thanks to their wonderful teacher Marian Baker.

Please contact the school if you would like your child to learn an instrument and we will do our best to accommodate you

Year 4 - Roman Topic

We have had such a wonderful time composing music to accompany our Escape stories. We orchestrated our ideas, playing glockenspiels, flutes, violins and percussion. We experimented with timbre, pentatonic scale and harmony. We recorded our ideas on a Score. The children's technical skills are improving every week.

Pupil voice said about music in class:

"I love music, I feel calm"

"This is a dream come true, I've always wanted to learn music"
